Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an Enterprise Architect, Data Platform, to define the enterprise data architecture strategy, standards, and roadmap. You will align data platforms, analytics capabilities, AI/ML services, integration frameworks, and cloud technologies with business objectives and architecture standards.

The role partners with business leaders, security, governance, and application teams to build scalable, secure data platforms enabling digital transformation and enterprise

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
• Master's degree preferred.
• 12+ years of progressive experience in enterprise technology and data architecture.
• 5+ years of Enterprise Architect or Senior Data Architect roles.
• Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale cloud data platforms.
• Experience leading architecture initiatives across multiple business domains.

Responsibilities

• Define and govern the enterprise data architecture strategy, standards, and roadmap.
• Lead architecture across Data Lakehouse, Real-Time Streaming, Data Mesh, and Data Product Architectures.
• Define standards for APIs, data contracts, event architectures, and multi-cloud environments.
• Architect solutions across AWS, Azure, and GCP with Snowflake, Fabric, Kafka, and related tools.
• Establish data governance, security, metadata, and compliance practices.
• Mentor architects and lead architecture reviews across the organization.

What You Will Do

As the Enterprise Architect, Data Platform, you will define and govern the enterprise‑wide data architecture strategy, standards, and roadmap. You will play a critical role in ensuring data platforms, analytics capabilities, AI/ML services, integration frameworks, governance practices, and cloud technologies align with business objectives and enterprise architecture standards.

This position partners closely with business leaders, technology teams, data engineering organizations, security, governance, and application teams to build scalable, secure, reliable, and cost‑effective data platforms that enable digital transformation, advanced analytics, AI initiatives, and enterprise decision‑making across the enterprise.

How You Will Do It

Enterprise Architecture Strategy

• Define and maintain the enterprise data platform vision, strategy, and multi‑year roadmap.
• Establish architectural principles, standards, and reference architectures for enterprise data platforms.
• Develop future‑state architecture models supporting analytics, AI/ML, operational reporting, and data products.
• Align data platform investments with business and technology modernization strategies.
• Champion cloud‑native architectural patterns and best practices.

• Partner with Information Security teams to define secure data access models and protection controls.

HIRING SALARY RANGE

$180,000-200,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This role offers a competitive Bonus plan that will take into account individual, group, and corporate performance. This position includes a competitive benefits package.
