Job Profile Summary:

The Enterprise Architect - Applications is responsible for designing scalable, secure, and high-performing application architectures built on the public cloud (primarily Azure). We seek a highly skilled individual to drive FedEx's shift towards a platform engineering and product-focused culture, playing a critical role in shaping our future.

As an Application Architect, you will design, develop, and implement innovative application architectures aligned with strategic goals to drive business value. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in cloud-native application development and legacy system modernization, focusing on reusability, scalability, and resilience.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities
  1. Architectural Leadership: Drive the design and implementation of scalable, resilient, high-performance application architectures, leveraging modern technologies and best practices.
  2. Platform Engineering: Collaborate with platform teams to develop and maintain reusable, self-service platforms and tools that empower product teams to deliver features rapidly.
  3. Product-Oriented Mindset: Foster a product-centric culture by promoting agile methodologies, continuous delivery, and DevOps principles.
  4. Technology Expertise: Stay updated with emerging technologies and trends in application architecture, cloud computing, and UI/UX design.
  5. Mentorship and Collaboration: Provide guidance and mentorship to development teams, fostering a culture of innovation and knowledge sharing.
Skills Profile
  1. Technical Proficiency:
    • Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, including microservices, event-driven, and serverless patterns.
    • Deep knowledge of Azure cloud platform and its offerings, such as Azure Functions, Azure App Service, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Event Hubs, and Azure Cosmos DB.
    • Expertise in common event processing stacks like Kafka, Flink, etc.
    • Expertise in UI/UX frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js.
    • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Golang, or Python.
    • Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines (Git, Azure DevOps).
    • Experience with API design and development (REST, GraphQL).
    • Understanding of data modeling, database design, and query optimization.
    • Experience with serverless computing and low-code platforms.
    • Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools.
    • Experience with cloud security best practices.
  2. Soft Skills:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Passion for innovation and continuous learning.
Essential Functions
  1. Responsible for decisions and priorities regarding the enterprise's architecture.
  2. Translate business needs into architectural solutions (current and target state) and define solutions to problems through IT.
  3. Establish and implement standards/guidelines for platform integration.
  4. Develop/document frameworks for integration/implementation of architectural standards.
  5. Determine architecture solutions that meet performance, scalability, reliability, and security needs.
  6. Provide technical guidance to project teams.
  7. Coach junior IT architects.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or equivalent formal training.

Minimum Experience

Five (5) years of relevant work experience in IT or engineering environments.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to apply computer concepts, theories, principles, and methods to projects and business problems. Strong communication skills.

Senior Enterprise Architect - Applications

Job Profile Summary

Lead long-range planning for the structure and interaction between business strategy, organization, and architecture domains.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or equivalent.

Minimum Experience

Five (5) years of relevant experience in IT or engineering; an advanced degree may offset experience requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of project planning, technical architecture, and business strategy. Excellent communication skills.

Additional Details

The compensation range is an estimate based on location and experience. Actual pay depends on various factors including market and individual qualifications. Benefits include health, vision, dental insurance, retirement, and tuition reimbursement.
