We are seeking a highly skilled Enterprise Architect to become a key part of our IT team. This role plays a crucial part in Herc Rentals' digital transformation, overseeing frontend, backend, and cloud development in high-performing, large-scale environments. Focusing on our customer-facing systems—including eCommerce platforms, ERP integrations, telematics systems, and AI initiatives—the Enterprise Architect will drive innovation and enhance user experiences. What you will do...
- Architectural Leadership: Provide technical leadership in the design and implementation of enterprise-level solutions across customer-facing systems, including eCommerce, ERP integrations, telematics, and AI imaging initiatives.
- Frontend, Backend, and Cloud Oversight: Oversee the development of frontend, backend, and cloud solutions, ensuring they are scalable, high-performing, and meet the needs of a large-scale enterprise.
- eCommerce Oversight: Manage and evolve our eCommerce platform to meet changing business needs and enhance customer experiences.
- ERP Integration: Lead the integration of ERP systems, ensuring seamless data flow and process optimization.
- Telematics Systems: Oversee the development and integration of telematics systems for telemetry and control, enhancing our equipment monitoring capabilities.
- AI Initiatives: Drive AI projects focused on imaging and defect auto-recognition, leveraging machine learning and computer vision technologies.
- Cloud Solutions: Design and implement cloud-based solutions primarily using AWS services, while evaluating other cloud platforms as necessary.
- Microservices Architecture: Develop microservices architecture using open-source technologies to improve scalability and flexibility.
- Technical Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, introducing innovations that enhance business operations and customer satisfaction.
- Collaboration and Mentorship: Work closely with cross-functional teams, providing guidance and mentorship to developers and other IT professionals.
- Documentation and Standards: Develop and maintain architectural documentation, ensuring adherence to best practices and industry standards.
Requirements
Educational Background:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in software development and architecture for enterprise systems.
Technical Expertise:
- Extensive knowledge of eCommerce platforms.
- Strong experience with ERP systems integration.
- Solid understanding of telematics systems and IoT technologies.
- Experience with AI and machine learning technologies, especially in imaging and computer vision applications.
- Proficiency in designing and implementing microservices architecture using open-source technologies.
- Extensive experience with AWS cloud services; familiarity with other cloud platforms like Azure or GCP is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, including Agile and DevOps practices.
- Excellent understanding of design patterns, data structures, and system architecture principles.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
- Experience with messaging systems (JMS, AMQP, MQTT, Kafka) and event-driven architectures.
- Proficiency in at least two programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C#) with the ability to learn new languages as needed.
- Experience overseeing frontend, backend, and cloud development in high-performing, large-scale environments.
