• Develop architecture artifacts: topology diagrams, data flows, and service catalogs.
• Assess storage platforms and identify optimization opportunities.
• Evaluate observability, monitoring, logging, and operational visibility.
• Perform archiving/retention POCs to identify cost savings and risks.
• Facilitate workshops and collaborate with multiple teams across the agency.
• Identify gaps/risks and develop modernization roadmaps and recommendations.
• Communicate findings and progress to technical teams and leadership.
• Deliver accurate current-state architecture documentation.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to support a public-sector organization’s Chief Architect in enterprise infrastructure transformation, cloud modernization, and technology assessments. The candidate will serve as a liaison across IT teams and agency stakeholders, translating complex technical requirements into architecture documentation, recommendations, and actionable delivery plans.

The role focuses on assessing and documenting current-state enterprise architecture across on-premises data centers and hybrid-cloud environments, identifying technology gaps and dependencies, and supporting infrastructure optimization and modernization initiatives.

Position Responsibilities

• Support the Chief Architect in enterprise architecture assessments, infrastructure transformation, and cloud modernization initiatives.
• Conduct technical reviews and document current-state enterprise IT architecture across on-premises and hybrid-cloud environments.
• Develop architecture artifacts, including system topology diagrams, data flow diagrams, network dependency matrices, and service catalogs.
• Assess enterprise storage platforms, capabilities, dependencies, and opportunities for optimization.
• Evaluate existing observability architecture, monitoring tools, logging, and operational visibility.
• Conduct archiving and retention proof-of-concepts (POCs) to identify cost savings and reduce operational risks.
• Facilitate technical workshops and collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, database, desktop, security, and agency teams.
• Identify architectural gaps, risks, and dependencies and develop actionable recommendations and modernization roadmaps.
• Communicate technical findings, progress, and recommendations to technical teams and senior leadership.
• Deliver comprehensive, accurate, and actionable current-state enterprise architecture documentation.

Position Requirements

• Experience in enterprise architecture, cloud architecture, infrastructure engineering, or systems engineering.
• Strong understanding of enterprise IT infrastructure, data centers, hybrid-cloud environments, networking, storage, and system integrations.
• Experience conducting technical assessments, mapping dependencies, and developing architecture documentation.
• Knowledge of cloud modernization, enterprise storage, observability, monitoring, archiving, and data retention.
• Ability to develop architecture diagrams, technical assessments, and implementation recommendations.
• Excellent communication, presentation, workshop facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, build consensus, and translate complex technical concepts into actionable plans.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple initiatives effectively.
• Preferred: Government or public-sector experience, cloud or enterprise architecture certifications, and familiarity with architecture frameworks and IT service management.
