Job summary

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a clinical information systems specialist to lead planning, design, development, implementation, functionality, and evaluation of integrated health IT solutions that support patient care, administrative operations, and improved patient outcomes.

Job Description

Serves as the primary contributor and consultant for patient care services in the planning, design, development, implementation, functionality, and evaluation of integrated clinical information systems that support and enhance clinical practice, administrative and management needs, and patient outcomes.

Acts as the principal resource with clinical knowledge and computer expertise to coordinate and provide support for all new and current applications and software upgrades applicable to clinical systems. Responsible for the analysis, design, testing, and implementation of complex clinical information systems and solutions. Prepares detailed specifications.

Conducts assessments of the clinical environment and identifies implications for system implementations, acting as a facilitator for changes within the clinical environment. Advises end-user training on clinical applications to ensure understanding of functionality and supports the development and design of training programs.

Evaluates and recommends application acquisitions to support organizational goals, optimize clinical workflows, and enhance the effectiveness of clinical information systems.

Minimum Qualifications

A college degree in Computer Science, Healthcare, Nursing, Pharmacy, or Allied Health and 4 years of experience in Information Technology, preferably within Clinical Operations, and/or a clinical area, with preference given to candidates who have a combination of both clinical and information technology experience.

Demonstrated knowledge of systems implementation, which may include analysis, specification design, and implementation. Ability to apply technical and clinical expertise to support the successful deployment and optimization of healthcare technology solutions.
