Job summary

WRITER is hiring a senior software engineer to build the next generation of AI‑powered enterprise solutions. You’ll design secure, scalable backend platforms, integrate with external tools, and own high‑throughput APIs powering agent workflows.

You will work in a hybrid setup from WRITER’s hubs in San Francisco, New York City, or Seattle, reporting to the senior director of engineering. Compensation is aligned with experience across multiple levels.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building and operating production backend systems.
• Strong experience designing and shipping API‑driven platform services and distributed systems.
• Practical expertise building AI integration layers and secure service‑to‑service communication.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver secure, scalable AI integration platforms that connect enterprise systems.
• Contribute to the design and evolution of our AI integration client ecosystem and tools.
• Own backend service design for high‑throughput, low‑latency APIs and agent workflows.
• Set technical direction for identity, auth, and trust across integrations, balancing velocity and security.
• Partner with product and engineering leaders to shape roadmaps and translate business goals into platform capabilities.
• Lead production excellence with a metrics‑driven reliability strategy and incident readiness.
• Mentor senior and mid‑level engineers and elevate architectural standards.
