Job summary

AXIS Capital is seeking an AI Architect to shape AXIS's AI landscape, translating business needs into secure, scalable AI designs. You will collaborate across architecture, engineering, data, security and risk teams to ensure safe adoption of AI capabilities.

The role requires strong experience in enterprise AI architectures, MLOps/LLMOps, and governance, with a focus on responsible AI and cost control. Hybrid work model in New York area offered.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in AI, ML, data science, software/cloud architecture delivering AI solutions.
• Strong background in software engineering, cloud platforms, APIs, data integration.
• Experience designing enterprise AI architectures with security, scalability and cost control.
• Knowledge of generative AI, LLMs, embeddings, vector search and RAG.
• Experience on Azure cloud and AI ecosystem and governance practices.
• Understanding of MLOps/LLMOps, versioning, testing, deployment and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Design secure, scalable enterprise AI architectures across generative AI, ML, automation and agents.
• Translate business needs into AI designs; explain trade-offs to tech and non-tech stakeholders.
• Define reusable AI architecture patterns, standards and guardrails for models and data.
• Identify common requirements and shape reusable components for multiple teams.
• Maintain architectural oversight across AI projects; avoid duplication.
• Guide teams on responsible AI including fairness, explainability, privacy and human oversight.
• Assess AI use cases; recommend simpler approaches when appropriate.
• Architect AI solutions integrating with enterprise data, apps, APIs and workflows.
• Support teams with RAG, semantic search, prompt management, model eval, MLOps/LLMOps.
• Ensure testing, monitoring, cost management, performance and lifecycle controls.
• Contribute to AI governance and design assurance with governance forums.
• Evaluate emerging AI tech and vendors; balance innovation with risk.
• Collaborate with engineers to resolve design issues and maintain standards.
• Build trusted relationships; run workshops to extract value opportunities.
• Keep current on AI technology, practice and regulation; update guidance.
