Smartsheet is seeking an experienced sales professional to join as an Enterprise Account Executive. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of quota attainment and developing customer accounts within the Higher Education or State and Local Government sector.

This remote role covers the Central Region (Illinois and Wisconsin) and reports to a Regional Director, Enterprise EDU. Candidates should be located in Illinois or Wisconsin. You will leverage your expertise in enterprise software sales and understanding of the higher education landscape to build relationships with key decision-makers, including CIOs, CTOs, provosts, and senior administrators. The role requires strategic sales approach, consultative selling, and navigating complex procurement processes.

You Will
  • Navigate complex procurement processes in Higher Education and School Districts.
  • Engage with stakeholders at colleges and universities, including leadership and administrative teams.
  • Travel to customer sites, typically at least once per quarter.
  • Respond to RFPs and RFQs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with CIOs, IT Directors, Procurement Officers, and other stakeholders.
  • Apply industry research and knowledge.
  • Travel onsite for presentations and industry events.
  • Customize sales presentations and proposals.
  • Maintain expertise in enterprise solutions like cloud computing, cybersecurity, SaaS, and digital transformation.
  • Manage full sales cycle for accounts with 5k-20k+ employees.
  • Identify and develop new business within existing accounts.
  • Expand Smartsheet's footprint across departments.
  • Articulate Smartsheet's value propositions.
  • Build sales pipeline and growth in your territory.
  • Collaborate with Sales Engineers, Solutions Consultants, and Customer Success teams.
  • Create tailored proposals based on customer needs.
  • Use sales tools and CRM to forecast and track activities.
  • Manage customer lifecycle from pre-sale to renewal.
You Have
  • 7+ years of full cycle sales experience, preferably in SaaS or technology fields.
  • Located in Illinois or Wisconsin.
  • Proven success selling into government or educational institutions.
  • Experience with RFPs, procurement cycles, and government contracts (NASPO, GSA, DIR, etc.).
  • Strong relationship management skills in B2B environments.
  • Ability to travel within the region.
  • Territory management and prospecting skills.
  • Data-driven sales approach.
  • Self-directed, resourceful, and able to work under pressure.
  • Familiarity with CRM and Google Suite.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Salary range: $90,000 - $125,000 USD, plus incentives, based on experience and location.
