Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking an outpatient Licensed Practical Nurse to provide direct nursing care and act as the primary medical contact for screening patients. The role includes administering medications, following care standards, and collaborating with Providers and RNs to support examinations and procedures.

The position requires an active LPN license (state or eNLC) and BLS certification within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Current Licensed Practical Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or current multi-state LPN license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
• Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct nursing care to patients in an outpatient medical office setting.
• Uses standards of care and practice to guide care delivery.
• Administers intramuscular, subcutaneous, and oral medications as ordered.
• Consults with Provider or RN for guidance.
• Record data in patient’s medical record and communicate data to physician.
• Assist Providers and RN with examinations and procedures as assigned.
• Escort patients to and from exam room and assist with scheduling when necessary.
