Job summary

Sanford Health in Sioux Falls offers a Medical Assistant role in ambulatory care. You will collect patient data, relay information to providers, and help execute care plans with a focus on prevention and education.

The position requires graduation from a recognized Medical Assistant program, with preferred healthcare experience. Certification (CMA/CCMA/CMAC/NCMA/RMA) or RMA via AMT is acceptable, and BLS is required within six months.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant program.
• Prior experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
• Nationally certified or registered as a Medical Assistant (MA).
• Certification (CMA) obtained through a nationally approved certification program...
• Registration (RMA) obtained through the American Medical Technologists (AMT) also acceptable.
• ND registration as an MAIII for ND location with 4-month grace period.
• MAs in SD, MN, IA, or OR do not require state registration.
• BLS certification within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Collects subjective and objective health data from patients or caregivers.
• Contributes data to licensed health care professionals and follows the patient’s plan of care.
• Communicates provider instructions for care to patient or caregiver.
• Participates in care across the lifespan in preventive, maintenance, treatment, and follow-up settings.
• Obtain vital signs, prepare patients for examinations, observe and report symptoms, and perform point-of-care testing.
