Job summary

San Joaquin Valley College Inc. seeks an Admissions Advisor to engage prospective students and promote programs under the Enrollment Services Director. You will present the benefits of education, conduct tours, schedule exams, and coordinate open houses to drive applicant conversion.

The role requires evening availability for workshops and some weekend seminars. Prior associate degree and comfort with MS Office and student-record software are needed to ensure accurate processing and follow-up

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate’s Degree; recognized by U.S. accrediting agencies.
  • Language Skills: read/write simple instructions; present information to applicants and employees.
  • Mathematical Skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide, percentages and ratios.
  • Reasoning Ability: apply common sense instructions to problems with variables.
  • Computer Skills: MS Office, Word, Excel, Access, Outlook; proprietary student records software.
  • Other Qualifications: available evenings for workshops and some weekends for seminars.

Responsibilities

  • Meet start goals for linear start programs.
  • Respond to all inquiries for assigned linear programs.
  • Schedule appointments with prospective students.
  • Make program presentations to prospective students.
  • Give tours of the college to prospects.
  • Schedule placement exams and discuss scores with applicants.
  • Schedule interviews with Program Director; refer to financial services.
  • Follow up by phone and correspondence for events; orientation, start date, uniforms, supplies.
  • Coordinate and attend all linear program open houses.
  • Attend all Advisory Board meetings.
  • Develop leads to supplement marketing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Summary: In relation to contributing to SJVC’s mission and goals, under the direct supervision of the Enrollment Services Director a Linear Program Admissions Advisor must be able to sell prospective students on themselves and the benefits of an education by presenting them a brighter, more promising future.

Compensation: The starting pay range for this position is $29.00 - $31.00 per hour.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Meet start goals for linear start programs
  • Respond to all incoming inquiries for assigned linear programs
  • Schedule appointments with prospective students
  • Makes program presentations to prospective students
  • Gives prospective students a tour of the college
  • Schedules placement exams and discusses impact of scores with applicants
  • Schedule prospective students for Program Director interviewsRefers applicants to financial services
  • Follows up by telephone and correspondence for open houses, orientation, start date, uniform and supplies
  • Coordinate and attend all linear program open houses
  • Attend all Advisory Board meetings
  • Develop leads to supplement general marketing
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Education and/or Experience: Associate’s Degree and related work experience. Required degree(s) must be from institutions accredited by recognized U.S. accrediting agencies. Degrees from non-U.S. institutions are recognized only if equivalence has been established and provided.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions; short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; ability to affectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to applicants and employees.
