Job summary

The Whalen Group, the tax and accounting division of Whalen Financial, seeks an experienced Enrolled Agent to manage an assigned client base and provide comprehensive tax preparation, planning, accounting, and advisory services for individuals, businesses, and nonprofits.

This year-round position requires evaluating complex tax matters, applying current tax laws, and offering proactive guidance while maintaining high client service standards in a growing practice.

Qualifications

• Active Enrolled Agent credential in good standing.
• Extensive knowledge of federal tax law and filing requirements.
• Experience preparing Forms 1040, 1120, 1120-S, 990, and 709.
• Experience handling multistate returns and complex tax matters preferred.
• Ability to manage an assigned client base independently.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review federal and state tax returns with emphasis on 1040, 1120, 1120-S, 990, and 709.
• Manage an assigned portfolio of individual and business clients.
• Research and apply current federal and state tax laws.
• Identify tax-planning opportunities and advise clients on tax-efficient strategies.
• Respond to IRS and state notices and assist with tax-resolution matters.
• Review client financial records for accuracy and tax compliance.
• Provide accounting, tax-planning, and advisory services outside of tax season.
• Communicate complex tax matters to clients clearly and professionally.
• Maintain complete, accurate, and confidential client records.
