Job summary

You will collaborate with accounting staff, maintain records, advise on tax strategies to minimize liabilities, and stay current on tax law changes.

Qualifications

• Active Enrolled Agent (EA) designation with the IRS is required; CPA or other relevant certifications are a plus.
• Experience preparing individual and business returns and handling multi-state filings.
• Experience with tax audits, notices, and correspondence with tax authorities.
• Proficiency with tax software and accounting systems; strong Excel and general computer skills.
• Ability to explain tax concepts in accessible terms.
• Experience in a tax or public accounting firm.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Enrolled Agent role based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Enrolled Agent will handle tax preparation and representation for individuals and businesses, including preparing federal, state, and local tax returns and responding to tax authority inquiries. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing financial documents, ensuring compliance with current tax laws and regulations, and advising clients on tax strategies to minimize liabilities while remaining compliant. The role also involves maintaining accurate records, collaborating with accounting staff on bookkeeping and financial statement review, and providing clear, timely communication to clients regarding their tax position and filing requirements. The Enrolled Agent will stay updated on tax law changes and contribute to process improvements that enhance client service and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong skills in Tax Preparation and Tax, including experience preparing individual and business returns and handling multi-state filings.
• Candidates should possess skills in Tax Compliance, including knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and experience managing audits, notices, and correspondence with tax authorities.
• Candidates should possess skills in Accounting and Financial Statements, including the ability to interpret financial data, reconcile accounts, and identify tax implications.
• Active Enrolled Agent (EA) designation with the IRS is required; CPA or other relevant certifications are a plus.
• Previous experience in a tax or public accounting firm, preferably working with both individual and small business clients.
• Proficiency with tax software and accounting systems, as well as strong Excel and general computer skills.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy under deadlines.
• Clear, professional communication skills and the ability to explain complex tax concepts in accessible terms.
