arc After School and Experiential Education in the Greater San Diego Area is seeking an Enrichment Instructor for Visual Arts (Nails). You will lead classes in nail art, hair braiding, makeup, and related cosmetology skills for a K-12 audience.

The role emphasizes engaging, inclusive teaching, curriculum planning, and hands-on projects while maintaining a positive classroom environment and safety standards.

Formación

• Official/unofficial transcripts confirming 48+ college units (60 for HS) or proficiency exam.
• Experience in instructing/teaching, especially with elementary to high school students.

• Flexible schedule for after-school instruction hours.
• Experience working with youth in diverse communities.
• CPR Certification (Adult, Child, and Infant) preferred.

Job Details: Job Location: Greater San Diego Area - San Diego, CA 92108, Salary Range: $35.00 - $35.00 Hourly, GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Enrichment Instructor for Visual Arts (Nails)will lead engaging, age-appropriate classes that introduce students to various areas of cosmetology, including nail art, hair braiding, and makeup application. The ideal candidate will have a strong instructional background in these disciplines and a passion for teaching. They must be able to motivate and inspire students while fostering a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Review curriculum and create lesson plans


• Facilitate classroom-based lessons and activities applicable to the elementary through high school age range


• Maintain student engagement in course material and redirect unwanted behaviors


• Maintain course kits, instruments, and equipment and see to cleanliness and functionality


• Communicate regularly with Coordinators regarding course matters, including material needs, site specifics, and curriculum efficacy


• Provide structured warm-up and cool-down activities


• Plan and deliver lessons that encourage and foster creative expression using hair, nails, and make-up


• Provide instruction on various braiding styles, techniques, and related skills like scalp care and sanitation; the art and science of nail care, including manicures, pedicures, nail enhancements, and nail art; and makeup application, and skin and body care


• Prepare engaging, hands-on projects that allow students to build hard skills in the craft and business of cosmetology and allow students to showcase their work


• Develop student skills that demonstrate understanding and create a fun and positive learning environment


• Assess student progress, provide feedback, and support students in their application of artistic techniques


• Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of students with different abilities and experience levels


• Stay current with trends that are relevant and interesting for a range of student interests


• Encourage collaboration among students


• Maintain a safe and supportive classroom environment


• Maintain attendance records and participate in staff meetings or training sessions as needed

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience

• Official/unofficial college transcripts that confirm 48+ completed college units (60 units for high school) or a passing score on an academic proficiency exam


• Experience in instructing/teaching, especially with elementary to high school aged students


• Ability to assess and address student challenges


• Adaptive to communication styles, motivation needs, and different learning needs


• Schedule flexibility/availability pertinent to after school instruction hours based on the needs of a given course cycle


• Experience working with youth in diverse communities


• CPR Certification (Adult, Child, and Infant) preferred

Additional Requirements

• Negative TB test result and COVID-19 vaccination record


• Completion of Live Scan background check


• Availability to work before/after school hours and some


• Ability to travel to assigned school sites and to the Arc office
