Job summary

Denver Public Schools is seeking an after-school enrichment instructor to provide engaging educational instruction for 2nd–5th grade youth. This role designs new enrichment classes aligned with Out-of-School Time best practices, updates materials, and supports curriculum development to ensure high-quality teaching.

The position runs Monday through Friday, 2:00–6:00pm, at an elementary site, with an emphasis on equity and positive student outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum educational degree or relevant work experience.
  • At least 2 years in education and technology with school-age children.
  • Must have a valid Colorado driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Commitment to equity and high-quality education for all students.

Responsibilities

  • Provide educational instruction in assigned subjects.
  • Design enrichment classes aligned with OST best practices.
  • Align curriculum with state and school standards.
  • Prepare and administer pre/post tests to students.
  • Update teaching materials as needed and manage class resources.
  • Oversee classroom computers and software updates.
  • Collaborate with site staff on recruitment and retention.
  • Research current OST trends and implement them.
  • Hours: Monday–Friday, 2:00–6:00pm.

About This Job

Implements a variety of enrichment and educational classes at an elementary site, after school for 2nd - 5th grade youth, as well as supports curriculum development, and implements Out of School Time best practices and program evaluation.

What You'll Do
  • Provides educational instruction in assigned subject/topic areas
  • Designs new enrichment classes in alignment with Out-of-School Time (OST) best practices
  • Works to align curriculum with state and school standards
  • Prepares pre and post tests for students and administers on a class basis
  • Evaluates and updates teaching materials as necessary
  • Ensures upkeep and working condition of all computers and updates software
  • Works with site staff on student recruitment and retention
  • Researches and implements current trends in the education field and OST field
  • Hours and Days: Monday - Friday, 2:00 - 6:00pm
What You'll Need
  • Minimum Bachelor's or relevant work experience
  • Two (2) or more years in education and the technology field
  • Experience working with school age children
  • Must have a current and valid Colorado driver's license, meet the District's insurance requirements, and have an acceptable driving record for the past three years
  • Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
  • Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.
