Job summary

Denver Public Schools is seeking program staff to support Extended Learning and Discovery Link activities. You will supervise students, implement daily schedules, and ensure safe and engaging programming across sites.

The role requires a high school diploma, 18+ years of age, and relevant experience with children. Colorado residency and ability to meet physical demands are essential. DPS offers competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and have at least three months (455 hours) of satisfactory and verifiable experience with school-age children.
• Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado.
• Ability to meet physical demands of the position with or without accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to ELCS/Discovery Link, the District, and Colorado DHS policies related to student supervision and safety.
• Maintain required staff-to-child ratios at all times.
• Supervise students independently and provide active supervision for safety.
• Implement daily program schedules, curriculum, and engaging activities.
• Maintain appropriate student behavior per the district Behavior Matrix.
• Prepare, maintain, and restore program spaces before and after use.

What You'll Do

• Adhere to all Extended Learning and Community Schools (ELCS)/Discovery Link, the District, and Colorado Department of Human Services policies, procedures, and regulations related to student supervision, tracking, safety, and staff conduct
• Follow Discovery Link staff conduct guidelines, staffing philosophy, and all licensing requirements, including maintaining required staff to child ratios at all times
• Supervise students independently and provide active supervision to ensure student safety
• Implement daily program schedules, curriculum, and engaging activities, including recreational and movement based programming
• Maintain appropriate student behavior standards consistent with the district Behavior Matrix
• Understand and follow accident reporting, incident documentation, and other required recordkeeping procedures, with supervisor support as needed
• Prepare, maintain, and restore program spaces before and after use, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and completion of housekeeping duties; review daily schedules, staffing assignments, and supervision expectations
• Foster positive relationships with families, school personnel, and Discovery Link staff; provide accurate program information, substitute at program sites as requested
• Other duties as assigned

What You’ll Need

• Minimum High School Diploma/GED
• Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have at least three (3) months (455 hours) of full-time or equivalent part-time satisfactory and verifiable experience with school-age children.
• Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
• Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
• Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.

Required

• Must currently hold certification in or be able to become trained in First Aid, CPR, Medication Administration and Universal Precautions Certified.
