Join our team as an English Tutor (Temporary) at Midlands Technical College, a multi-campus, two-year public college serving Richland, Lexington, and Fairfield counties of South Carolina. We offer associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates, fostering innovative learning environments, individual and business success, economic vitality, and community well-being.

Job Responsibilities

Provide tutorial assistance to students in English/Writing, maintaining high standards of tutoring excellence. Communicate effectively with students, implement best practices in tutoring college writers, coordinate with instructors through session reports, attend professional development sessions, and stay current with learning management systems, online writing resources, and 21st-century literacies. Complete all required documentation for tutorial sessions.

This position is located on the Airport and Beltline Campuses within the Academic Success Center.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in English or related field such as Rhetoric, Linguistics, English Education, Technical, Professional, or Business Communication, or other writing-intensive disciplines.
• Current knowledge of Word and academic documentation systems.
• Ability to tutor APA, MLA, and Chicago writing styles.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in English or related areas such as Rhetoric, Linguistics, Creative Writing (MFA), or English Education.
• Recent experience tutoring or teaching college-level writers in diverse higher education settings.
