Job description

Position Summary
  • Teach with Purpose: Our teachers play a key role in bringing to life the academic and cultural visions of our schools. This includes daily lesson planning, intentional curriculum design, and regular data analysis to help all students learn and grow. Teachers also implement Social Emotional Learning lessons and Restorative Practices to foster a joyful, inclusive classroom community.
  • Support and Collaboration: Teachers work closely with the school's Leadership Team, including their Instructional Coach, through weekly meetings and ongoing feedback to enhance instructional practices.
  • Commitment to Anti-Racism: We are dedicated to creating an anti-racist school community. This involves ongoing development, self-reflection on identities and experiences, and regular analysis of school systems, culture, and data to progress towards being an anti-racist organization.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience: Prior experience as an educator teaching students with similar demographics to our student community.
  • Education: Hold a B.A./B.S. from a regionally accredited institution and meet one of the following:
    • Valid teaching credential in the desired subject, or
    • Eligibility for Provisional Internship Permit, or
    • Eligibility for Short Term Staff Permit.

  • Belief that all students can achieve at high levels.
  • Strong content knowledge and relationship-building skills with students, families, and communities.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite and ability to learn instructional technology tools like Zoom and Nearpod.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Daily and long-term lesson planning aligned with KIPP's academic goals.
  • Data analysis to inform instruction.
  • Creating a positive, inclusive, and rigorous classroom environment incorporating Restorative Practices and SEL.
  • Implementing culturally responsive classroom management strategies.
  • Regular communication with stakeholders.
  • Participation in weekly professional development and communities of practice.
  • Maintaining accurate student records.
Physical, Mental, and Environmental Demands

Physical: Ability to navigate school settings, access technology, and occasionally lift equipment up to 20 lbs. Physical agility for various movements.

Mental: Ability to handle deadlines, analyze problems, work with interruptions, and perform routine tasks requiring focus.

Environmental: Work environment with potential interruptions; adherence to health guidelines per CDC and public health agencies.

Classification

This is a full-time, exempt position on a school year calendar, based at our school sites.
