Job summary

Aspris is seeking an outstanding English Teacher at Talocher School to deliver engaging lessons and create an inclusive learning environment for ALN students aged 7–19. This 12-month fixed-term contract focuses on delivering high-quality English education and supporting pupils with diverse needs.

You will plan and deliver lessons, adapt approaches for SLCN, and contribute to a trauma-informed culture that helps every learner thrive. A strong commitment to professional development is expected.

Qualifications

• Must have proven experience teaching English across multiple levels.
• Qualified teacher status or equivalent.
• English-related qualification such as a degree or Level 3+ equivalent.
• Strong understanding of Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).
• Experience supporting learners with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), including ASD and SEMH.
• Awareness or training in Trauma Informed Practice is a plus.

About The School

Talocher School is a specialist school for girls and boys aged 7 to 19 who have Additional Learning Needs (ALN). We currently have registration for 60 students. The school provides a warm, welcoming and flexible environment for young people who are unable to attend mainstream education because of their needs.

What You\'ll Be Doing

What You\'ll Bring

• Proven experience teaching English across multiple levels (essential)
• A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, CertEd, QTS or equivalent)
• English-related qualification (e.g. English degree or Level 3+ equivalent)
• Strong understanding of Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
• Experience supporting learners with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), including ASD and SEMH (desirable but we’d love to see it!)
• Awareness or training in Trauma Informed Practice (a big plus!)
• A passion for inclusive education, with the ability to adapt and bring out the best in every learner
• A positive, proactive attitude and a genuine enthusiasm for making a difference
