Job description

Position: English Teacher (Grades 6–12)

Location: Stow, Massachusetts, Masters Academy International

Anticipated Start Date: August 1, 2026

Masters Academy International

Masters Academy International is New England’s only school that combines top-tier sports and academics to prepare future leaders who excel in athletics, academics, and life. At Masters Academy International, academics aren’t placed between training sessions—they are a vital part of developing an elite performer. We’ve created a curriculum that respects the demands of our athletes without sacrificing intellectual rigor. Students are challenged through engaging coursework, grounded in inquiry, which encourages healthy disagreement and debate and emphasizes quality over quantity.

MAI’s academic program aims to strike a balance between well‑being and learning for our student‑athletes, helping them develop not only knowledge but also the skills necessary to succeed in a rapidly evolving world. Students are encouraged to take ownership of their education and nurture the critical and creative thinking skills required to understand and solve global challenges. As a result, our students graduate from MAI as critical thinkers, effective communicators, and confident learners prepared to excel in any field.

The Opportunity

As an English Teacher, you'll promote a love of literature and lifelong learning by guiding students through close reading practices that deepen their understanding of how texts work. You'll help students develop the ability to make inferences, analyze authors' craft, and engage critically with diverse voices and genres. Through thoughtful mentoring and coaching, you'll support students throughout the writing process—from brainstorming and drafting to revising and polishing their work. Your classroom will be a space where students share their writing with peers, offering and receiving constructive feedback that strengthens their voices and skills as communicators.

You’ll embrace a broad view of composition that extends beyond traditional essays to include multimodal projects—podcasts, digital storytelling, visual essays, and other creative forms that reflect how we communicate in the modern world. Recognizing that technology shapes how we read, write, and think, you’ll thoughtfully integrate AI as a tool to support students’ growth as readers and writers. Whether using AI to brainstorm ideas, explore different writing styles, or analyze complex texts, you’ll help students understand both the possibilities and the responsibilities that come with these powerful tools, preparing them to be ethical, innovative communicators in an evolving world.

What You Will Do

As an English Teacher at Masters Academy International, you will inspire a love of literature and lifelong learning by guiding students in close reading, critical analysis, and thoughtful engagement with diverse texts. You will mentor students through the writing process—from brainstorming and drafting to revising and polishing their work—while fostering collaborative peer feedback. Your teaching will embrace multimodal composition, including podcasts, digital storytelling, visual essays, and other creative forms that reflect modern communication. Thoughtful integration of technology and AI will help students explore ideas, analyze texts, and develop their voices responsibly. You will lead classes, small groups, and one‑on‑one conferences, providing actionable feedback that supports students’ academic and personal growth. Additionally, you will co‑construct a classroom culture rooted in curiosity, belonging, and respect, and build strong partnerships with students and families to ensure each learner thrives.

Who You Are

You are an experienced language and literacy educator with a proven ability to mentor developing readers and writers through authentic and varied instructional approaches. You integrate technology and AI thoughtfully to enhance learning and foster creativity, and you understand—or are eager to learn—the unique demands facing student‑athletes, supporting them in achieving balance and resilience. You bring ownership and responsibility for student success, embody humility, and actively seek feedback to refine your practice. Committed to lifelong learning and innovation, you face challenges directly, act with integrity, and take thoughtful risks to advance student growth. You approach your work with sound judgment, adaptability, and curiosity, viewing assessment as a tool to empower reflection, goal‑setting, and ongoing development.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range is $85,000. Benefits for eligible roles include medical, life insurance, a 401(k) savings plan, and more.
