Job summary

Rite of Passage Brand seeks an English Teacher for Southwest Leadership Academy in Phoenix, Arizona. The role focuses on delivering high-quality instruction within a supportive culture and engaging with at‑risk youth to promote academic achievement.

You will collaborate with the Education Department, follow Positive Operational Culture guidelines, and report to the Vice Principals or Principal. A valid state teaching credential is required and a minimum of three years of classroom teaching is

Qualifications

• Possesses a current and valid State teaching credential in English, Math, Science and/or Special Education.
• Have related experience working with at‑risk youth.
• Have three or more years of successful classroom teaching.
• Knowledge of instructional strategies and how they can be employed to deliver curriculum and assess student learning.
• Effective classroom management techniques and behavioral management styles.

Responsibilities

• Implement and adhere to the principles of Positive Operational Culture and provide instructional services to students.
• Collaborate with staff in a supportive fashion and maintain a positive attitude toward students and program.

Southwest Leadership Academy is a school students can call “home”: a school where a rigorous, relevant curriculum and a relational instruction approach are essential to high academic achievement. Students will experience success, complete their high school studies and launch into the 21st century world of higher education and employment.

What you will do:

The Teacher is a member of the Education Department. Primarily responsible for implementing and adhering to the principles of Positive Operational Culture and providing instructional services to students. Works collaboratively with staff in a supportive fashion emphasizing a positive attitude toward students, staff and program. Teachers report to the Vice Principals and/or Principal

To be considered you should:

Possesses a current and valid State teaching credential in English, Math, Science and/or Special Education.

Have related experience working with at-risk youth

Have three or more years of successful classroom teaching

Possess a knowledge of:

Instructional strategies and how they can be employed to deliver curriculum and assess student learning.

Various methodologies and research related to learning and working with at-risk, high school aged youth.

Effective classroom management techniques and behavioral management styles that result in understanding of how to manage and teach to various learning styles.

Effective communication techniques that enable positive and productive collaboration with site staff.

Technology and how it can be used as an educational tool.

Have the ability to:

Establish a teaching rapport with students which results in student achievement in all program areas.

Diagnose, prescribe and evaluate student progress on an ongoing basis.

Collaborate with staff to deliver a consistent curriculum and implement a team approach to working with students.

Confront inappropriate behavior appropriately and take the necessary action as outlined in the program procedures.

Accept additional tasks as assigned including flexible work schedule and extracurricular assignments.

Be able to pass a criminal background clearance check, drug screen, physical and TB test.
