Qualifications

  • Ability to work effectively with students from various proficiency levels and academic disciplines required
  • Reliability, punctuality, and strong organizational skills required
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to college policies required
  • ESL certification (e.g., TESOL, TEFL) preferred
  • Previous tutoring experience preferred
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology preferred

Clarkson College is seeking to hire a tutor to assist English Language Learner (ELL) students. This position will provide academic tutoring and support to college students who are English Language Learners (ELLs), assist students in developing academic language proficiency, understanding course content, improving study skills, and navigating academic culture. Tutors will work with students individually and potentially in small groups across various subjects, with a focus on language development. The tutor will assess, assist and encourage the students in the learning processes. Tutors review materials used in classes, explain various topics, and answer questions.
