English Language Development Teacher at Spring-Ford Area School District's Upper Providence Elementary School
Spring-Ford Area School District is actively recruiting an ELD Teacher. This position is responsible for helping students with limited English proficiency learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development. The position is accountable for planning an English as a Second Language (ESL) program of study and instructing the class at the designated time to learn that program of study.

Essential Responsibilities
- Conduct on-boarding process for all students who indicate at registration that a language other than English is used at home.
- Conduct Family Interview
- Conduct WIDA Screening
- Assist in Placement Decision
- Complete and maintain state required paperwork including yearly parent permission, opt out forms, reclassifications, and monitored status.
- Maintain records of current and monitored ESL students.
- Conduct and oversee the Reclassification process each school year including distribution of teacher surveys and calculation of reclassification scores.
- Quarterly monitoring of Monitored EL Students for 2 years following reclassification.
- Schedule students for ESL instruction and support based on language levels and needs.
- Responsible (along with other content teachers) for instruction in the acquisition of English through Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking for ESL students from newcomer through advanced levels.
- Administer yearly state standardized test for ELs (WIDA Access)
- Maintain required level of training to serve as a testing proctor of the WIDA Access, WIDA Alternate Access, and WIDA Screener
- Compile information, attend, and participate in Instructional Support Team (IST), Student Assistance Program (SAP), Individualized Education Program (IEP), parent conferences and Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings.
- Provide school and community resources for ESL students and families.
- Prepare report card grades in Language Arts for the Limited English Proficiency (LEP) students receiving direct Sheltered Instruction.
- Manage EL specific curricular resources and technology resources provided through MCIU Consortium.
- Identify suspected special education needs of LEP students and seek assistance of district specialists.
- Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to support accommodations/modifications in the delivery of content instruction and assessments by all teachers based on students' language proficiency levels and the Pennsylvania English Language Development Standards (PA ELDS) Framework.
- Plan and participate in Family Engagement Activities as outlined in Title III.
- Conduct professional development
- Participate in on-going professional development into best practices for Multilingual Learners.
- Position may require travel to other schools within the district.
- Performs any other job-related duties, projects, and responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent or their designee.

Certification
Must have a valid and active PA English as a Second Language Program Specialist PK-12. Must also have Grades PK-4 or Grades K-6 certification.

Salary is based on the salary matrix from the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Successful external applicants must submit valid and current Act 34, Act 151, and Act 114 clearances less than 1 year old as of their start date. The successful candidate must submit a health record and TB Test less than 90 days old as of their start date prior to starting.
