Description
Temporary, part-time faculty positions offer the opportunity to assist a diverse group of students in achieving their educational goals. As one of the largest community college districts in southern California, we offer a wide range of opportunities in transfer, general education, career, and technical education programs. These positions are on an as-needed basis, and applicants should live within commuting distance to Orange County.
Performance Responsibilities
- Teach classes according to established curriculum and course outlines, preparing and providing course materials, lectures, and assessments.
- Help develop and measure learning outcomes, assess student performance, and maintain records.
- Report assessment data on student learning outcomes and utilize results to improve teaching and learning.
- Maintain professional conduct and stay current in subject matter areas.
- Follow college and district policies, complete reporting deadlines, and submit required documents timely.
- Use current technology and materials to support engagement and learning.
- Establish and maintain regular contact with students, especially in distance education courses.
- Teach during scheduled times and at designated locations, including online, day, evening, or weekend classes.
- Participate in curriculum review and program development as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must meet one of the following: (a) Master’s in TESL, TESOL, linguistics with TESL emphasis, English with TESL emphasis, or education with TESL emphasis; (b) Bachelor’s in related fields plus a Master’s in linguistics, applied linguistics, English, or related areas; or (c) Equivalent education and experience.
- Applicants must answer all equivalency questions thoroughly if applying under (c).
- Attach transcripts showing qualifications; for degrees from non-U.S. institutions, a foreign degree evaluation is required.
