Job Description:
SiSTEM is seeking an experienced English 1 STAAR Prep Bootcamp Instructor who can independently design and teach an engaging, high-impact course focused on preparing students for the English 1 STAAR exam. The ideal instructor will be skilled in teaching critical reading, writing, and analysis skills and will create a well-rounded curriculum to ensure students perform at their best on test day.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop a comprehensive English 1 STAAR prep course, including lesson plans, reading and writing assignments, practice tests, and STAAR-specific strategies.
2. Lead live, interactive sessions to teach reading comprehension, grammar, literary analysis, and essay writing skills.
3. Offer personalized feedback to students to improve their understanding of key concepts and test-taking strategies.
4. Assess student progress regularly and adjust teaching methods or materials to meet individual needs.
5. Provide real-time support for students through Q&A sessions and personalized assistance.
6. Administer a final mock STAAR exam and provide a performance review to ensure students are fully prepared.

Requirements:

1. Proven experience teaching or tutoring English 1, particularly in preparation for the STAAR exam.
2. Strong ability to create educational content and curriculum independently without supervision.
3. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex literary concepts in a clear and relatable manner.
4. Strong organizational and time-management skills to maintain course structure and track student progress.
5. Comfort and experience with virtual teaching tools (Zoom, Google Meet, etc.) and online assessments.
6. Reliable internet connection and technology setup for effective online teaching.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field.
2. Familiarity with Texas STAAR standards and English 1 exam content.
3. Previous experience creating and delivering test prep courses.
