Job summary

Pacific Power Group in Orange Beach, AL is seeking an experienced Engines Foreman to lead our field service technicians in inspection, maintenance, overhaul, and repair of industrial engines and power generation systems. This leadership role requires hands-on expertise and the ability to coordinate work safely and efficiently.

You will travel along the Gulf Coast, supervise direct reports, mentor technicians, and ensure work meets OEM specifications and company standards.

About the Role

MSHS Pacific Power Group is looking for an experienced Engines Foreman to lead our field service technicians in the inspection, maintenance, overhaul, and repair of industrial engines and power generation systems.

This is a field service leadership position with variable travel requirements. The role will have a strong focus on the Orange Beach, Alabama area, with additional coverage across Gulf Shores, Mobile, Pascagoula, and surrounding Gulf Coast marine markets.

As the Engines Foreman, you will serve as the primary technical leader for engine-related work and will have direct reports, providing hands‑on leadership, advanced troubleshooting expertise, and mentorship to our engine technicians. You will also coordinate labor, materials, equipment, and schedules to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with manufacturer standards, company procedures, and regulatory requirements.

You’ll work closely with Operations, Service, Project Management, and Parts teams to support major engine overhauls, repairs, installations, outages, and emergency service calls while helping develop and mentor the next generation of engine technicians.

What You'll Do
  • Lead and perform advanced diagnostics, repair, and overhaul of diesel, natural gas, and propane engines.
  • Oversee engine tear‑downs, rebuilds, inspections, and component replacements, including fuel, cooling, lubrication, emissions, and turbocharger systems.
  • Ensure all work meets OEM specifications, technical manuals, service bulletins, and company procedures.
  • Verify proper commissioning, testing, and engine performance following repairs or installations.
Field Service & Team Leadership
  • Directly supervise and provide hands‑on leadership to field service technicians.
  • Plan and assign job tasks, ensuring efficient use of technicians, tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Monitor job progress and ensure service work, outages, and rebuild projects are completed safely and on schedule.
  • Provide technical support during emergency service calls and rapid‑response troubleshooting situations.
  • Travel to customer sites throughout the Gulf Coast region based on business and customer needs.
  • Adjust travel and work schedules to support changing service requirements, outages, and emergency calls.
Project & Job Coordination
  • Coordinate manpower, parts, tooling, and equipment for engine rebuilds and major service projects.
  • Partner with Project Managers on large engine overhauls, upgrades, and installations.
  • Monitor labor hours, job costs, and productivity to support operational and financial performance.
  • Assist with estimating labor and material requirements for service quotes and aftermarket work.
Technical Leadership & Training
  • Provide hands‑on technical leadership, coaching, and mentorship to engine technicians.
  • Train technicians on diagnostics, rebuild procedures, troubleshooting techniques, and best practices.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for engine systems and complex troubleshooting situations.
  • Keep technicians informed of OEM updates, service bulletins, technologies, and changes in repair procedures.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
  • Lead by example and enforce company safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, NFPA, EPA, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure engine repairs and rebuilds meet reliability and performance expectations.
  • Maintain accurate service documentation, inspection reports, work orders, and rebuild records.
Customer & Business Support
  • Serve as a technical point of contact for customers during engine service and overhaul projects.
  • Communicate job status, technical findings, and recommendations clearly and professionally.
  • Identify opportunities for additional service, upgrades, and preventative maintenance.
  • Build strong customer relationships through technical expertise, responsiveness, and professionalism.
Process Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve service processes, efficiency, quality, and turnaround times.
  • Support standardization of engine rebuild procedures and documentation.
  • Provide feedback regarding tooling, parts inventory, equipment, and operational needs.
  • Assist with workforce planning, scheduling, and allocation of field resources.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 7–10+ years of experience working with industrial engines, power generation equipment, heavy machinery, or a related field.
  • Proven experience performing engine diagnostics, rebuilds, major repairs, and component replacement.
  • Advanced knowledge of diesel, natural gas, and propane engine systems.
  • Strong understanding of fuel, cooling, lubrication, emissions, and related engine systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret engine schematics, service manuals, technical documentation, and OEM specifications.
  • Experience using diagnostic tools, engine control systems, and performance testing equipment.
  • Ability to work with work order systems, service reporting tools, and time‑tracking systems.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work safely in field and industrial environments.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required to support customer and business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical/trade school education or an associate degree in Diesel Technology, Power Generation, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.
  • Prior leadership, lead technician, or supervisory experience in a service environment.
  • Experience directly supervising and developing technicians.
  • Experience with industrial power generation equipment and major engine overhaul projects.
  • Familiarity with NFPA, EPA, OSHA, and applicable environmental and safety regulations.

  • Ability to travel to customer job sites throughout the Gulf Coast region, including overnight travel as needed.
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and emergency call‑outs when required.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in varying weather and job‑site conditions.
  • $45.00–$60.00 per hour, based on experience.
