Job summary

The Engineer Trainee at Simplot will complete two one-year rotations at fertilizer manufacturing plants in Pocatello, ID and Rock Springs, WY, supporting project engineering, process optimization, and new product development under supervision.

You will plan, schedule, collect data, develop drawings, and manage safety aspects of each project, with opportunities to coordinate with multiple departments and vendors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
• 1+ years of related experience or training.
• Ability to perform basic engineering calculations and material and energy balances.
• Experience with lab or pilot plants preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Perform calculations and basic engineering tasks under supervision.
• Support bench, pilot, or plant testing and analyze results.
• Assist in developing components, processes, and equipment.
• Facilitate cross-functional communication across departments.
• Prepare scope, budgets, schedules, and track project progress.
• Travel to production facilities as needed (20–40 days yearly).
• Maintain safety and environmental compliance on projects.
