Job summary

ABB Inc. in North America is seeking an Engineering Tools Manager to lead and develop the tools team, delivering high quality, cost effective engineering solutions for product engineering.

You will allocate resources, drive continual improvement, and apply agile practices to shorten lead times while upholding safety and cybersecurity standards across the Electrical Distribution market.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics.
• At least 10 years of experience in electrical distribution.
• Experience working with product engineering and/or engineering tools maintenance in the Electrical Distribution market.
• Proficiency with ePlan or similar electrical CAD tools and documentation automation.
• Strong project management, leadership, and mentorship skills.
• Candidates must already have work authorization to work in the US.

• Provide direction to the engineering tools team with a focus on functional safety, cybersecurity, on-time delivery, quality, and margin improvement.
• Ensure projects/operations value chain portfolio follows sound methodology and execution practices and closes per contract specifications.
• Initiate, coordinate, drive, and oversee continual improvement of processes and procedures to strengthen engineering/design capability and efficiency, using agile methodologies to reduce lead time and enhance cybersecurity.
• Drive team performance to meet deliverables on time and per contract specifications with safety, cybersecurity, and quality requirements.

This position reports to:

Engineering Tools Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to manage a team of engineers and technical specialists to deliver high quality, cost effective, and timely engineering solutions to product engineering teams. Each day, you will formulate plans and allocate resources to meet the agreed contractual and financial targets. You will also showcase your expertise by initiating, coordinating, driving, and overseeing team development and continual improvement of processes and procedures to strengthen the engineering and design capability. The work model for the role is: #LI-onsite This role is contributing to the Electrification Distribution Solutions in North America. Main stakeholders are Product Management, Engineering, R&D, and Manufacturing.

• Providing direction to the engineering tools team with a focus on functional safety, cybersecurity, on time delivery, quality, and margin improvement.

• Ensuring the projects/ operations value chain portfolio follow sound methodology and execution practices in accordance with internal standard procedures and that the projects are closed as per the contract specifications.

• Initiating, coordinating, driving, and overseeing continual improvement of processes and procedures to strengthen the engineering / design capability and efficiency, utilize agile methodologies to reduce engineering lead time, and enhance functional safety and cybersecurity.

• Driving team performance to ensure that the deliverables are met on time and as per the set contract specifications and safety, cyber security, and quality requirements.

Qualifications for the role

• Bachelor's Degreein Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics.

• Ability to demonstrate at least 10 years of experience in electrical distribution.

• You are engaged in working with product engineering and/or engineering tools maintenance and development the Electrical Distribution market.

• Highly adept in ePlan or other electrical CAD, product configurators, and/or documentation automation.

• You are passionate about project management, leadership, and mentorship.

• Candidates must already have work authorization to work in the US.
