This posting is intended to establish a pool of qualified adjunct candidates for anticipated instructional needs for 2027. Actual hiring and course assignments are contingent upon enrollment, scheduling demands, program needs, and funding availability. As a result, there may or may not be positions filled from this posting.

This position is located in Virginia. Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance or be willing to relocate to ensure consistent, reliable attendance.

Germanna Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. As a comprehensive community college, Germanna provides quality, accessible, and affordable educational opportunities for the residents of the City of Fredericksburg and the counties of Caroline, Culpeper, King George, Madison, Orange, Spotsylvania and Stafford. Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in the designated discipline/field of study to students from a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences. We are seeking someone who is able to teach Engineering Technology both in-person and online. Adjunct faculty are employed to teach up to 12 credit hours in the fall and spring semester and/or up to 8 credit hours during summer session. Teaching load is based on student enrollment and staffing needs. The adjunct faculty contract contains no expectation or guarantee of continued employment.

Duties And Tasks

• Teach specific classes in the designated discipline.
• Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
• Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
• Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of GCC and the VCCS.
• Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization.

Essential Functions

Please note

This wide salary range reflects the diverse faculty ranks within the Virginia Community College System (VCCS). Final salary determination and placement within this range are based on the candidate’s academic credentials and occupational experience as evaluated via the VCCS-10 process.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Official transcripts will be required prior to final offer
• Ability to demonstrate the use of relevant technology and learning management systems to effectively facilitate teaching, learning, assessment, and communication
• Commitment to student engagement in the online teaching environment including maintaining consistent communication and virtual support mechanisms to ensure student success.
• Technology capability (access to WIFI, computers) to teach remotely
• All teaching positions of Germanna Community College require the ability to teach in a variety of modalities including virtually.
• Demonstrate competency and commitment to continuous professional development in virtual education.
• Complete Growing with Canvas and TOPS 2.2 prior to teaching
• Experience with or willingness to learn artificial intelligence tools
