Job summary

Tempo is seeking a skilled Engineering Technician with strong welding to produce engineered parts and assemble testing apparatus in a fast-paced startup in San Diego. The role requires 2–4 years of hands-on experience, the ability to read drawings, and weld on high-temperature components for thermochemical energy storage projects.

You will work independently and with engineers to refine designs, use TIG/MIG welding and machine shop equipment, and maintain safety standards in a high-temperature

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical/trade program in mechanical fabrication or welding.
• 2–4 years hands-on experience in welding, fabrication, and assembly, startup/R&D a plus.
• Proficient in TIG and MIG welding on metals.

Responsibilities

• Interpret CAD drawings and spec charts to plan part manufacturing and metrology.
• Weld and machine parts using mills/lathes/drill presses and assemble subsystems.
• Prepare components for inspection and ensure dimensional tolerances and weld quality.
