Job summary

First Division Consulting is seeking an Engineering Technician VI to provide expert-level support for USMC communication systems. The role involves integration, maintenance, repair, and modernization of complex cabling and RF architectures, with hands-on field and shop work.

The ideal candidate will read schematics, configure RF equipment, and contribute to technical documentation such as MIs, TIs, and ICDs, while ensuring electrical safety and quality standards are met.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology or equivalent required.
  • 12 years with degree or 14 years with HS/GED of practical engineering experience.
  • Secret clearance is required.
  • Experience reading schematics and working from component drawings for complex architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with USMC communications equipment and vehicle integration.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert support for integration, maintenance, repair, and modernization of USMC communication systems.
  • Lead or support advanced engineering tasks and develop/test configurations.
  • Create and refine technical documentation (MIs, TIs, TMs, BOM, ICD).
  • Perform in-field and shop-based hands-on debugging and troubleshooting.

First Division Consulting (FirstDiv) is seeking a highly experienced Engineering Technician VI to provide expert‑level technical support for the integration, maintenance, repair, and modernization of United States Marine Corps (USMC) communication systems and equipment. This senior technician will lead or support advanced engineering tasks, including the development, configuration, and troubleshooting of complex communication architectures. The ideal candidate will also contribute to the creation and refinement of technical documentation and provide hands‑on technical support in both field and shop environments. This role requires a deep understanding of MIL-STD practices, vehicle integration, and USMC tactical communication platforms.

The candidate shall perform the following required skills:

  • Highly Proficient with MIL-STD cable fabrication with the capability to assemble/solder communications cabling, RF cabling, power, networking, and other multi conductor cabling
  • Capability to read and understand technical documentation, cable assembly drawings and schematics for complex or multi‑system architecture
  • Experience configuring, operating, and troubleshooting a variety of current fielded USMC communications systems
  • A solid understanding of electrical systems, circuits, and related codes
  • Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills are essential for diagnosing and fixing electrical issues.

Working knowledge of tactical communications best practices for vehicle integration:

  • Grounding/Bonding
  • Cable management
  • Component installation/removal
  • Electrical safety
  • System Troubleshooting

Familiarity with technical content required to produce the following technical documents and/or USMC publications:

  • Modification Instructions (MIs)
  • Technical Instructions (TIs)
  • Technical Manuals (TMs)
  • Component Parts List / SL-3
  • Bill of Materials (BOM)
  • Interface Control Document (ICD)

Proficiency with hand tools and familiarity with electrical equipment and testing instruments are necessary:

  • Understanding of safe operation of shop hand tools and power tools
  • A strong understanding of electrical safety practices and regulations is paramount.

Experience with operation of RF test equipment for maintenance and troubleshooting:

  • Insulation tester resistance meter (Megger)
  • Multi‑meter
  • Effective communication with clients, supervisors, and other team members is vital.
  • Ability to lift, climb, and work in confined spaces, so physical fitness and dexterity are important.
Desired Skills
  • Operational knowledge of USMC voice and data modes of communication to include UHF, VHF, HF, SATCOM, SINCGARS, ANW2
  • Operational knowledge of the USMC Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV)
  • Experience with configuring, operating, and troubleshooting USMC voice and data radios and vehicular radio configurations, specifically:
    • RT-2034C, AN/VRC-138
    • RT-2060
  • Experience with configuring, operating, and troubleshooting Harris RF-7800i Inter Communications Set (ICS)
  • Experience with configuration, operating, and troubleshooting the Joint Battle Command - Platform (JBC-P) / Mounted Family of Computer Systems (MFoCS)
  • Attended MIL-STD-2003 training and IPC 620 Certified
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology, math, or science; or Formal electronics training from: Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications; or four‑year electronics apprentice program; or High School diploma or GED
  • 12 years with degree/formal training or 14 years with HS/GED of practical experience to include: design, preparation and modification of engineering documents, and drawings
  • Clearance Required: Secret
Physical Requirements
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work
  • Light to moderate lifting may be required
