City of Chicago's CDA GIS & Utilities Section seeks an Engineering Technician V to support advanced para-professional engineering work on airport infrastructure. You will manage asset data, inventory assets, and ensure tagging accuracy while collaborating with contractors and airport staff.
Under direction, you will identify assets, interpret drawings, and verify field conditions. This career-service role requires a background check and compliance with city procedures, with hours 8:30 am–4:30 pm

Starting Salary: $75,336; Grade B-14

This position is open to all current city employees covered under the City's Collective Bargaining Agreement with AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY, AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES (AFSCME) - BARGAINING UNIT 1, 3, 4 & 5. Only employees in City job titles in this bargaining unit are eligible to bid.
Under direction, participates in a variety of specialized and/or complex para-professional engineering projects or acts as a working supervisor in an assigned area of responsibility, and performs related duties as required.
This class is the advanced level in the Engineering Technician series. Positions in the class series are allocated across various City departments in support of engineering work which may include but are not limited to projects involving the design, maintenance and construction of water mains or sewers, roads, bridges, street maintenance, traffic engineering and/or traffic control.
Additional duties may be required for this position.
