Base Pay Range

$38,751.00/yr - $65,061.00/yr

Job Duties

The incumbent will be assigned to Field Inspection, assisting engineering staff with field and office work. Overnight, night, and weekend work may be required.

Field Inspection

Working under an Engineer-in-Charge, the incumbent will oversee contractor operations on construction projects to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and standards. Specific duties will be discussed at the interview.

Minimum Qualifications

This position is part of the NY HELPS program. Candidates must meet the open competitive minimum qualifications:

  • Engineer Technician Trainee:
    Option 1: One year of experience assisting in relevant fields and high school diploma or equivalent.
    Option 2: 18 college semester credits in relevant subjects.
    Option 3: Graduation from a recognized high school technical program in related fields.
  • Senior Engineering Technician:
    Option 1: Two years of relevant experience and high school diploma or equivalent.
    Option 2: An associate's degree in relevant fields.
    Substitutions include certificates or additional college credits.

Note: After a 52-week traineeship, candidates are automatically promoted to Senior Engineering Technician (SG-13).

Additional Comments

Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. full-time. The position may initially be filled via a non-competitive appointment under NY HELPS, with potential conversion to a competitive status later.
