Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan is seeking a Sampling Technician in Bagdad, AZ to support sampling operations, coordinate with dispatch, drilling and blasting teams, and ensure timely sample transport to the assay lab. The role emphasizes safety and accuracy in the field.

You will identify drill holes for sampling, label and document samples, and maintain equipment. The job requires no experience, but a readiness to learn, follow SOPs, and work outdoors in varied weather.

• Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of site processes, equipment, and infrastructure.
• Proficiency with various computer software applications, especially Microsoft Office.

About the Position

• Ability to lift, handle, load, and stack up to 50 lbs.
• Operation of hand or power tools.
• Experience performing equipment and workplace safety inspections.
• Ability to work outdoors in ambient weather conditions.
• Basic computer skills.
• Well organized and self‑motivated.

• Valid driver’s license required.
• Outdoor, mine or manufacturing plant setting with exposure to extreme temperatures, humidity, moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles.
• Regular standing, sitting, manual dexterity, stair and ladder use, talking, hearing, and seeing required.
• Ability to lift moderately heavy to heavy objects up to 50 lbs frequently during the workday.
• Personal protective equipment mandatory: hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, respirator, rubber steel‑toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, and other required gear.
