Job summary

Assurant is seeking an Engineering Technician to work from complex schematics and test setups, supporting RF testing and component sourcing. You will document repairs, assist Level 3 technicians, and help improve manufacturing processes.

The role requires an electronics background and hands-on experience with a range of test equipment, soldering, and CAD tools, with strong communication skills for OEM coordination.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent trade certification.
• 3+ years of related technical and customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Work from complex schematics, layouts, and diagrams to troubleshoot and repair.
• Use multimeters, oscilloscopes, RF signal generators, spectrum analyzers, power meters, and test sets.
• Coordinate with OEMs and materials to source components needed.
• Evaluate new phones and qualify components; assist maintenance and repairs.
• Create repair documentation covering assembly, disassembly, testing and troubleshooting.
• Interface with OEMs to resolve component availability issues.
• Identify process improvements and report deficiencies to the department.
• Support Level 3 technicians with documentation, tooling, and training.
• Assist automation, conveyors, and sortation equipment as needed.
• Perform root cause analysis on field and repair process failures.

Engineering Technician – Duties and Responsibilities

• Work from complex schematics, layouts, and diagrams


• Utilize multimeters, oscilloscopes, RF signal generators, spectrum analyzers, power meters, and communication test sets


• Coordinate with OEM and materials associates to source required components


• Evaluate new phones, qualify components, support equipment maintenance, etc.


• Evaluate new model to create repair documentation including assembly / disassembly, functional, troubleshoot, etc. documentation.


• Interface with OEM to remedy component availability issues


• Interpret ISB’s, CSB’s, and FSB’s and determine relevance to daily responsibilities


• Actively identify & pursue process improvement initiatives


• Identify and report process deficiencies and potential improvements to the department

• Support level 3 technicians with documentation, tooling, training, etc.

• Perform root cause failure analysis on field failures and repair process failures

Requirements

• Associates degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent trade school Certification.


• 3+ years of related tech and customer service experience.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Wireless manufacturer (OEM) repair certification preferred


• Experience in process development and implementation


• Knowledge of Autocad and Soildworks is a plus


• 3D printing experience is a plus


• Ability to read and comprehend moderately complex instructions


• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees, leads and supervisor of the organization


• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations where only limited oral instructions are available


• Can perform analysis/ work using some independent judgment. Decisions may affect the team


• Ability to use positive interpersonal skills to handle customer problems


• Must possess oral and written communication skills and attention to detail


• Ability to work scheduled hours required plus overtime as dictated by company


• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word & Excel) for purpose of production documentation creation


• Computer skills including Microsoft Office with procedure / documentation writing background.


• Awareness of new technologies/techniques

• Proven knowledge of CDMA/ GSM / LTE/ RF communications tester use


• Soldering skills including surface mount rework, shield, and connector replacement experience

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

• Ability, visual acuity and manual aptitude to recognize and accurately repair/install components according to product specification


• Position requires incumbents to regularly sit at their workstation and use hands to disassemble, assemble, operate, and repair equipment


• Occasional bending, lifting up to 25 pounds


• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $ 20,96 - $ 34,59

Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
