Job summary

Amentum is seeking a creative electrical/controls technician with entry level experience to build and wire control cabinets and hardware in a multidiscipline project team environment. You will work on wind tunnel equipment, rocket/test stands, automotive test cells, and other facilities.

Responsibilities include reading electrical schematics and CAD drawings, layout and panel fabrication, wiring and labeling, and safe use of hand/power tools.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required to demonstrate basic reading, math, and comprehension skills.
• Vocational/Technical Training in electrical technology preferred but not required for entry-level roles.
• Ability to interpret 2D/3D electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
• Wiring proficiency in routing, bundling, and terminating wires and cables per UL 508A or IEC standards.
• Proficiency with hand tools (wire strippers, crimpers, screwdrivers) and power tools (drills, sanders, grinders).
• Basic use of multimeters for continuity and functional tests.
• Knowledge of NEC, NEMA, and NFPA 70E safety practices.
• Certifications preferred: OSHA 10/30, IPC-A-610.
• Candidates with mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn also welcome.

Must be able to read and understand wiring diagrams and schematics. Must be able to safely use hand tools, power tools, and other machinery. The successful candidate will work in a multidiscipline project team environment to and build custom design solutions to satisfy unique customer requirements. Typical projects include wind tunnel equipment, rocket and jet engine test stands, automotive test cells and other unique test facilities and systems.

Education and Experience Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED:Required to demonstrate basic reading, math, and comprehension skills.
• Vocational/Technical Training (Preferred):Specialized coursework in electrical technology, electronics, or mechatronics is highly desired, though not always required for entry-level positions.
• Schematic Reading:Ability to interpret 2D/3D electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
• Wiring Proficiency:Skills in routing, bundling, and terminating wires and cables (crimping, soldering) according to UL 508A or IEC standards.
• Tool Operation:Proficiency with hand tools (wire strippers, crimpers, screwdrivers) and power tools (drills, sanders, grinders).
• Testing & Troubleshooting:Basic use of multimeters for continuity and functional tests.
• Safety Standards:Knowledge of NEC (National Electrical Code), NEMA, and NFPA 70E (safety best practices).
• Certifications (Preferred):OSHA 10/30-hour training, IPC-A-610 (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies).

Compensation Details

$15.24 - $24.38
