JOB TITLE: Engineering Technician III DEPARTMENT: Engineering GRADE: FLSA STATUS: 11 Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Director of Engineering
Performs responsible professional work preparing plans for capital improvement projects using computer aided design. Direction is provided by the Director of Engineering and the Chief of Design.

Knowledge of modern principles and practices of civil engineering and/or architecture; general knowledge of design, construction, and maintenance relating to capital improvement projects; general knowledge of land surveying, traffic engineering, stormwater management, and/or building standards; ability to read and interpret plans; ability to maintain accurate records; ability to prepare reports; ability to communicate ideas effectively both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and general public; Microsoft Office and computer aided design (CAD) software experience required; AutoCAD Civil 3D experience desired.
Graduation from an accredited community college with major course work in engineering technology, architectural technology, or related field; 2 years’ experience in engineering and/or construction related projects desirable.
A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for depth perception, color perception, preparing and analyzing written and computer data, use of measuring devices, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.
Possession of an appropriate valid driver’s license.
