Job summary

EquipmentShare is hiring an Engineering Technician III at our corporate headquarters in Columbia, MO. The technician will work with engineers to create prototype devices from sketches and CAD drawings for review and testing, supporting R&D efforts and product development.

Ideal candidates bring mechanical aptitude, experience with hand/tools, and strong troubleshooting skills. The role involves equipment setup, calibration, safety adherence, and collaboration with a team focused on transforming

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical school or skilled trades program preferred.
• Level II: at least 4 years in fabrication/prototype or equivalent.
• Level III: at least 6 years in fabrication/prototype or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers in creating, modifying, and testing products and processes.
• Conduct extensive R&D during product development.
• Inspect products/processes for flaws and identify improvements.
• Use CAD equipment during design phase.
• Set up, maintain, and calibrate equipment.
• Follow safety procedures and ensure proper operation and handling of materials.

The Engineering Technician will work with engineers using sketches, rough layouts, and CAD drawings to create prototype devices for review and testing.

Primary Responsibilities

• Assists engineers as they create, modify, and test products and processes.
• Performs extensive research and development during the creation phase of the product
• Inspects products and processes for flaws and identifies areas of improvement.
• Utilizes computer-aided design and drafting equipment during the design phase.
• Equipment Set up, maintenance, and calibration
• Follow safety procedures and ensure proper operation of equipment and handling of materials and chemicals
• Keep the lab clean, organized, and stocked with supplies

Skills & Qualifications

• Perform work supervised and unsupervised
• Comfortable handling basic issues and problems
• Mechanical aptitude: Strong understanding of mechanical principles, including gears, bearings, hydraulics, and pneumatics
• Technical skills: Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment
• Blueprint reading: Ability to interpret engineering drawings and schematics
• Problem-solving: Effective troubleshooting and analytical skills to identify the root cause of mechanical issues
• Basic computer skills: Familiarity with software for data analysis and documentation

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent education or experience required.
• Technical school or an applicable skilled trades program, preferred
• Level II - At least 4 years experience in fabrication/prototype or equivalent experience
• Level III - At least 6 years experience in fabrication/prototype or equivalent experience

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to sit, stand, or both for prolonged periods at a desk and/or machine.
• Routinely lifts, carries and moves materials weighing up to 50 pounds
