Job Description

This role involves assisting in daily operations and maintenance of manufacturing equipment for night vision image intensifier production. It is a hands-on engineering technician position, with over 80% of time spent interacting with equipment, operators, and building/repairing tooling. Responsibilities include process optimization, cost reduction, waste elimination, and training staff to improve quality and efficiency. The goal is to minimize safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and production issues.

The ideal candidate will have proficiency with hand and machine tools, gauges, test instruments, and process equipment, with the ability to read and follow procedures. Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies for waste reduction and efficiency improvement is required. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related engineering field, or equivalent work experience
  • At least 2 years of technical experience in manufacturing
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in training others
  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance
  • Compliance with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations, and company policies
  • Availability to work off-shift schedule

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with mechanical assembly, review, or inspection
  • Experience with ultra-high vacuum equipment and cleanroom environments
  • Knowledge of MS Access queries and statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab, JMP)
  • Experience with coding/scripting (Visual Studio, Python, JMP scripting)
  • Process improvement experience and Six Sigma certification
  • ProE or AutoCAD experience

Off-shift Details

  • 'D' shift: Friday - Sunday nights (6 pm - 6 am)
  • Flexible start and end times possible
