Job Description:

Valkyrie Enterprises has an immediate need for an Engineering Technician II who will support assembling, installing equipment or parts requiring basic mechanical, electrical, wiring, soldering, or connecting skills, or performing computer maintenance and operations. This position is located in Bremerton/Silverdale, WA, and at shipyards throughout the PACNORWEST area.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform installation, removal, and upgrades for electrical/electronic/IC/C4I tasks such as wiring terminal boxes, testing, and verifying connections, performing continuity and resistance checks on cables, troubleshooting.
  • Conduct system testing to evaluate performance and functionality.
  • Use drawings, manuals, instructions, standards, and specifications for fiber optic and system installation, removal, and upgrades.
  • Utilize optical test equipment and customer wiring drawings for testing and troubleshooting.
  • Understand cableway improvements and inspections.
  • May perform fire watch and confined space duties.
  • Demonstrate trade skills gained through school or proven experience.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; 3-7 years of experience as a Trades and Engineering Technician I; Cableway Improvement Certification; Multi-Pin Connector Certification.
  • NAVSEA fiber optic certification or ability to certify quickly.
  • Knowledge of power tools, shipboard operations, NAVSEA standards.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Ability to obtain a passport.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Specialized qualifications such as Fiber Fabrication, Shipyard Competent Person, Permit Authorization.
Security and Travel:
  • Must obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
  • Moderate travel required (up to 50%).
Physical Requirements:
  • Repetitive motion, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, visual acuity.
  • Work in environmental conditions, wear protective gear as needed.
Additional Requirements:
  • Former Navy Senior (E5-E9) Surface Ship Engineer or qualified Electrician's Mate or similar ratings.
  • Instructor qualifications and experience in technical training preferred.
Education and Clearance:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain a favorable background check.
Pay Range:

$23 - $28 per hour
