Job summary

Qualus is seeking an Engineering Technician II in its Distribution department to collaborate with project teams and ensure compliance with electrical distribution standards. You will use AutoCAD, Design Manager, WMS, and Pole Foreman to prepare and review project design packages.

Ideal candidates have 3–5+ years in utility distribution design, strong communication, and solid document management skills. This role offers growth opportunities, extensive training, and a path toward engineering

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of Utility Distribution design experience using Design Manager, Pole Foreman, AutoCAD, or similar software.
• AA/AS degree or 2 years of formal post-high school specialized trade preferred; Bachelor's required to qualify for Engineer title.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent document management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work with a variety of projects and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Follow electrical distribution standards and regulatory requirements.
• Apply client, industry, and regulatory standards to distribution components.
• Support Engineering Manager with project assignments and client relationships for the distribution team.
• Identify and resolve problems.
• Utilize Distribution Design Studio, Pole Foreman, Design Manager, WMS, and AutoCAD in the preparation of project design packages.
• Review completed designs to ensure compliance with client, industry, and regulatory requirements.
• Review design products for quality and consistency.
• Communicate effectively with internal, client, and regulatory counterparts.
• Maintain production in a changing environment.
• Identify and promote training opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge of electrical distribution system design engineering standards, practices, and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to apply client, industry, and regulatory standards and requirements to existing distribution system components.
• Supports the Engineering Manager by handling some of the project assignments and managing project performance and customer relationships for the distribution team.
• Problem identification and resolution.
• Utilize software such as Distribution Design Studio, Pole Foreman, Design Manager, WMS, and/or AutoCAD in the preparation of project design packages.
• Review of completed designs and design products to ensure compliance with client, industry, and regulatory requirements.
• Review of design products to ensure compliance with quality and consistency expectations.
• Ability to effectively communicate with internal, client, and regulatory counterparts.
• Ability to maintain production in a changing environment.

Minimum Qualifications

• AA/AS Degree or 2 years of formal post-high school specialized trade (technical school/certifications) preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required to qualify for an Engineer title; candidates without a bachelor's degree can be considered for a Technician-level role based on experience.
• 3-5+ years' experience in Utility Distribution design using Design Manager, Pole Foreman, AutoCAD, or similar software.
• Microsoft Office product application.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong commitment to customer service and client care.
• Ability to work with a variety of projects and deadlines.
• Excellent document management and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
