Job summary

Vermeer is seeking motivated individuals to join our welding team in First Shift. You will assist production and engineering with welded connections, aiming for high quality, improved processes, and safe, efficient operations. Excellent communication and a desire for professional development are essential.

Responsibilities include inspecting welds, reviewing ECNs, assisting with welder qualification, and contributing to cost-saving improvements across Vermeer products and welding processes.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.
  • Technical School or skilled trade program in welding technology or related field.
  • Minimum three years welding experience with non-destructive testing or visual inspection.
  • Basic understanding of weld design guidelines, standards/codes and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to visually inspect welding quality against acceptance criteria with SMAW, FCAW, SAW, CAC, and OFC/PAC knowledge.
  • Knowledge of safely operating general industrial tools and welding equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform visual inspection of welds, audit weldments, and review results with leadership.
  • Communicate improvement ideas to reduce costs and enhance welding processes.
  • Review ECNs, create CRFs for welding changes, support new product launches in design and production.
  • Provide on-the-job training to new welders and guide incumbents.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for warranty issues and 8D tasks.
  • Document inspection results, welder qualification continuity, and quality improvements.

Job Summary

Are you the type of person who is self‑motivated in your desire to achieve welding excellence and is eager to learn and apply technical welding principles? In this role you will assist both production and engineering functions as they relate to welded connections. We're looking for engaged individuals with a strong desire for professional development, excellent communication skills, and who strive to improve quality, productivity, and safety throughout Vermeer welding.

What You'll Do
  • Perf orm visual inspection of welds , audit ing of weldments , and review results with leadership.
  • Communicate new and unique ideas to improve Vermeer products and welding processes. Help q uantify cost savings for equi pment investments .
  • Conduct print reviews on engineering change notices (ECN) for new and existing weldments. Create c hange r equest f orms ( CRF ) related to welding errors or necessary clarifications within prints . Support new product launches through both design/prototype phase and production manufacturing.
  • Provide on-the-job training to new welders and provide guidance to incumbent welders. Assist in both qualifying welders and welding procedures as needed.
  • Perform basic weld failure/ root cause analysis to resolve warranty related issues/ internal 8D tasks .
  • Document and record inspection / audit results, welder qualification continuity , print reviews, quality problem resolutions, weld process audits, and special process improvement projects.
What We're Looking For
  • High School Diploma .
  • Technical School or skilled trade program in welding technology, auto tech, diesel tech, industrial /manufacturing systems tech, ag systems tech or related field.
  • Minimum three years experience related to welding in non‑destructive testing or visual inspection , maintenance , tooling, continuous improvement, or quality technician - a nd physical welding experience.
  • Basic u nderstanding of weld design guidelines , standards /codes , problem solving , and troubleshooting .
  • Ability to visually inspect welding quality against the appropriate acceptance criteria required . Hands on skill in SMAW, FCAW, SAW, CAC , and OFC/PAC for manual and automated processes preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safely operating general industrial tools required . Hands‑on skill operating company or similar industrial, construction, or agricultural/environmental equipment preferred.
  • Vermeer Welder L evel III or qualified FCAW + GMAW-S (pipe) preferred . GMAW -P qualification required .
  • American Welding Society member or Certified Welding Inspector or Supervisor (CWI / CWS) preferred.
