Job description

  • Valkyrie Enterprises has a contingent position for an Engineering Technician l who will be a key support to assembling, installing equipment or parts requiring basic mechanical, electrical, wiring, soldering, or connecting skills or performing computer maintenance and operations.
  • This position is located in the Silverdale, WA area and surrounding shipyards in the PACNORWEST.
Job Description:
  • Perform installation/removal/upgrades for electrical/electronic/IC/C4I tasks such as: wiring of terminal boxes, testing, and verifying connections, performing continuity and resistance checks on cables, testing and troubleshooting.
  • Perform system testing to evaluate performance and functionality.
  • Use drawings, technical manuals, instructions, standards, and specifications to perform system installation, removal, and upgrade activities.
  • Understand cableway improvement and inspections.
  • May perform fire watch and confined space duties.
  • Perform and can demonstrate specific trade skills gained through school or proven experience.
Qualifications:
  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent and have 1.5 to 2 years’ experience in the field.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of power tools, shipboard operations, and NAVSEA standards.
  • Must have a Cableway Improvement Certification.
  • Must be able to complete work duties with minimal supervision.
  • Working towards a Multi-Pin Connector Certification.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Prefer the ability to obtain a passport.
  • Prefer the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Prefer specialized qualifications such as: Fiber Fabrication, Shipyard Competent Person, Permit Authorization Individual.
Security Requirements:
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance to access military facilities, naval shipyards, private shipyards and naval installations.
Travel Requirements:
  • Travel Required - up to 70%
  • If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID.
Physical Requirements:
  • Repetitive motion, Climbing, Balancing, Stooping, Kneeling, Crouching, Crawling, Reaching, Standing, Walking, Pushing, Pulling, Lifting, Picking, Grasping, Talking, Hearing, and Visual Acuity (depth perception).
  • Subject to outside environmental conditions (extreme cold/heat), subject to noise, vibration, hazards, atmospheric conditions (affect the respiratory system), frequently work in close quarters and/or function in narrow aisles or passageways (areas that could cause claustrophobia).
  • Protective clothing or equipment and face shields or goggles shall be worn when welding, cutting, or working with molten metal.
Former Navy Senior (E5 – E9) Surface Ship Engineer and one of the following:
  • Tier I (Master Level): An Electrician’s Mate AND a graduate of:
    • Air Cooled Frequency Converter, Maintenance (A-652-0241)
    • Electrician’s Mate Surface Ship Electrical Advanced Maintenance (A-662-0017)
    • SSM Automated Degaussing (A-690-0022)
  • Tier II (Journeyman Level): One of the following ratings:
    • Electrician’s Mate (EM)
    • Gas Turbine System Technician Electrical (GSE)
    • Interior Communications Electrician (IC)
In addition, a graduate of two (2) out of the three (3) following courses:
  • Air Cooled Frequency Converter, Maintenance (A-652-0241)
  • Electrician’s Mate Surface Ship Electrical Advanced Maintenance (A-662-0017)
  • SSM Automated Degaussing (A-690-0022)
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
Clearance:
  • Must be able to obtain a favorable background check.
