Job summary

LG Energy Solution Michigan, Inc. in Holland, MI is hiring an Engineering Technician to support daily production objectives and drive continuous improvement. The hands-on role requires independent work outside business hours and focuses on achieving OEE and Yield targets.

Responsibilities

  • Drive troubleshooting and problem-solving activities when equipment breakdowns.
  • Collect and analyze data, inspect products and processes, conduct tests, assist with R&D, and records results.
  • Provide advanced training to Tech II and III, including troubleshooting guides.
  • Create, update, and maintain Work Instructions, Work Standards, PFMEAs, Control Plans, PFDs, Quality Alerts, Change Orders, OPLs and Visual Standards.
  • Follow 4M changes.
  • Lead line change-overs, verify proper function and quality is met.
  • Initiate and foster cooperation/communication within and between departments and shifts.
  • Achieve KPI’s: OEE, Yield and Project targets.
  • Monitor machine operation, diagnose issues and make adjustments.
  • Work on continuous process improvements to keep line at designed level.
  • Run queries to troubleshoot issues and keep machines running properly.
  • Write reports of daily machine activity, issues, and improvement actions.
  • Test and inspect machines/equipment to assist engineer in corrective action.
  • Develop methods/devices for prevention and control of processes.
  • Adhere to safety and clean room rules and PPE standards.
  • Participate in training requirements and lead FPI processes.
  • Monitor quality issues, root cause findings and corrective actions.
  • Monitor SPC system and verify flags.
  • Monitor RMS and verify machine settings on time.
  • Manage hold material and reflect to yield.
  • Maintain 5S3R standards at work-site.
  • Follow cleaning SOPs during downtime.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Summary:

Provide engineering support to drive continuous improvement and meet daily production objectives. Complete projects, activities and initiatives that impact the achievement of OEE and Yield targets. The Engineering Technician role is a hands‑on position that, especially outside of business hours, will be expected to work rather independently to accomplish its projects and tasks, while knowing when and how to upscale.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide advanced training to Tech II’s and III’s, including but not limited to developing troubleshooting training guides
  • Create, update, and maintain Work Instructions, Work Standards, PFMEAs, Control Plans, PFDs (Troubleshooting Guide), Quality Alerts, Change Order, OPL (One Point Lessons) and Visual Standards
  • Follow 4M changes
  • Lead line change-overs, verify proper function and quality is met

  • Monitor machine operation, diagnose machine/process issues and make machine adjustments
  • Work on continuous process improvements to ensure the line is operating at its designed level
  • Run queries to troubleshoot issues and keep machines running properly
  • Write reports of daily machine activity, machine issues, and improvement actions
  • Test, inspect machines/equipment to assist the engineer in corrective action of production problems
  • Help develop methods and devices used in the prevention and control of the process
  • Adhere to company, team and safety rules/requirements at all times, including clean room rules and PPE standards
  • Participate and successfully complete all training requirements
  • Lead the FPI (First Production Inspection) process and documentations
  • Quality issue monitoring, root cause finding, corrective action implementation
  • Monitor the SPC system and verify the flags
  • Monitor RMS (Recipe Management System), response flags and verify the machine setting on time
  • Manage the hold material (tracking, reviewing, inputting, reflect to yield)
  • Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards:
    1. Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain
    2. Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container
  • Follow LGESMI existing cleaning SOP’s during downtime (e.g. line stop, waiting time, etc.), which includes cleaning your designated machine and/or surrounding work area
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Vocational Certificate or Associates Degree preferred or equivalent, relevant experience
Experience:
  • Tech II or III or commensurate experience
  • 3 to 6+ years of manufacturing experience
  • Prior experience using hand tools in a manufacturing environment
  • HMI and Vision Systems experience
  • Technical troubleshooting
