Reporting to the Construction Project Manager, this position performs skilled sub‑professional technical work on highway and bridge projects in both field and office environments.
The technician inspects contractor traffic control setups according to Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) standards and tests field aggregates for sieve analysis and compaction control. Additional field duties include operating specialized equipment such as nuclear moisturedensity gauges and inspecting asphalt plant operations, paving yields, slopes, and embankments. Working under the guidance of professional superiors, the employee may occasionally supervise small teams on routine tasks while collecting and providing critical electronic project data.
Salary range: $29.38 to $40.74 per hour, 10 steps, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
