The Fountain Group is seeking an Engineering Technician - Electronics to support a leading client in Los Angeles, CA. Details for the position below:
Engineering Technician - Electronics
Location: Los Angeles, CA (100% Onsite)
Pay Rate: $33.00/hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Duration: 12-Month Contract (strong potential to extend or convert based on performance and budget).
Responsibilities
- Perform functional, parametric, and performance testing on electronic and RF products.
- Support environmental qualification testing, including thermal cycling, humidity, shock, and vibration testing.
- Configure test setups and monitor equipment during testing activities.
- Troubleshoot electronic assemblies at the component, board, and system levels.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, PCB layouts, assembly drawings, mechanical drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Assist with failure analysis and root cause investigations.
- Perform precision soldering, rework, and component replacement.
- Build test fixtures, cables, wire harnesses, and prototype assemblies.
- Maintain ESD-compliant laboratory practices.
- Record and organize test results and prepare technical reports.
- Maintain engineering documentation, laboratory logs, SOPs, and work instructions.
- Support Engineering and Manufacturing teams with New Product Introduction (NPI) activities.
- Validate assemblies and test configurations prior to manufacturing release.
Qualifications
- One of the following:
- High School Diploma or GED with 5+ years of electronics, hardware, or RF support experience; OR
- Associate Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology (or related field) with 3+ years of relevant experience; OR
- Equivalent military electronics training with hands-on hardware experience.
- IPC Certification Required
- IPC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001
- Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Hands-on troubleshooting experience with electronic assemblies and hardware systems.
- Soldering and electronic rework experience.
- Experience using electronic test equipment, including:
- Digital Multimeters (DMMs)
- Oscilloscopes
- Power Supplies
- Other electronic test equipment
- Strong understanding of electronic components, PCB assemblies, wire harnesses, and mechanical assemblies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
