Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineering Technician to join our Operations team in a fast‑paced RF and Microwave manufacturing environment. This hands‑on role is ideal for an experienced technician with a strong background in testing, tuning, troubleshooting, and manufacturing advanced RF products.

The successful candidate will support the production of RF, microwave, millimeter‑wave, and frequency conversion products, ranging from discrete components through integrated subsystems. Working closely with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Operations, this individual will play a key role in solving complex technical challenges, supporting new product introduction, improving manufacturing processes, and ensuring the successful delivery of high‑performance products.

The ideal candidate is technically strong, enjoys solving difficult RF problems, thrives in a collaborative environment, and continuously looks for opportunities to improve product quality, manufacturing performance, and operational efficiency.

Essential Functions
  • Technical Responsibilities
    • Test, tune, troubleshoot, characterize, and validate RF, microwave, millimeter‑wave, and frequency conversion products from discrete components through fully integrated subsystems.
    • Perform RF and microwave characterization, tuning, troubleshooting, and acceptance testing using advanced RF test instrumentation, including PNA/PNA‑X network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, power meters, noise figure analyzers, RF sources, and automated test systems.
    • Diagnose complex RF performance issues, analyze test data, and determine root causes using sound engineering principles and measurement techniques.
    • Perform electrical alignment and optimization of RF assemblies to meet product performance specifications.
    • Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
    • Perform precision assembly and troubleshooting using microscopes and miniature hand tools.
  • Engineering & Product Development
    • Partner with Design and Manufacturing Engineering to support prototype builds, First Article Inspection, New Product Introduction, and production readiness.
    • Support engineering investigations by recommending design, test, or manufacturing improvements that enhance product performance, manufacturability, reliability, and quality.
    • Develop and improve manufacturing fixtures, test methods, and standardized work instructions to increase repeatability and production efficiency.
  • Manufacturing Excellence
    • Drive Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives focused on improving first‑pass yield, reducing cycle time, increasing throughput, and eliminating waste.
    • Support root cause investigations and corrective actions for manufacturing and customer‑return issues.
    • Work across multiple manufacturing departments to resolve technical challenges and support production priorities while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Technical Leadership
    • Mentor and support junior technicians by providing technical guidance on new products, manufacturing processes, RF test equipment, troubleshooting techniques, and best manufacturing practices.
    • Maintain accurate manufacturing records, test documentation, and production data in accordance with company procedures and quality standards.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 8+ years of related experience, or an Associate’s Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline with 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Extensive experience testing, tuning, troubleshooting, and characterizing RF, microwave, millimeter‑wave, or frequency conversion products.
  • Strong understanding of RF and microwave theory, measurements, and applications.
  • Experience troubleshooting RF hardware from discrete component level through integrated subsystem level.
  • Proficiency in using advanced RF test equipment.
  • Ability to analyze RF test results and determine the root cause of electrical performance issues.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and experience working under a microscope with miniature RF components.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Planning, and Operations.
  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction and transitioning products into production.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or other high‑reliability manufacturing environments.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Kaizen, Root Cause Analysis, or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience identifying and implementing process improvements that improve quality, manufacturing efficiency, and throughput.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing documentation.
