Job summary

AVIAN, pronounced a-v-yin, is seeking an Engineering Technician to support PMA-262 at NAS Patuxent River, MD. This role involves handling COMSEC materials, enforcing procedures, and maintaining security clearances.

The ideal candidate will have 3–10 years of experience, U.S. citizenship, and the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret clearance. AVIAN offers a comprehensive benefits package and an ESOP for employee owners.

Responsibilities

  • Properly account for, store, issue, inventory, destroy (if necessary), and safeguard all COMSEC material.
  • Create and retain required accounting documentation.
  • Ensure proper clearance and authorization for access to COMSEC material.
  • Issue COMSEC material on local custody forms.
  • Provide guidance on handling, accountability, and disposition of COMSEC material.
  • Conduct training on COMSEC procedures.
  • Incorporate emergency action/destruction procedures for COMSEC material.
  • Handle data transfer devices for keying of cryptographic equipment.

The ideal candidate will apply electrical and electronic theory and related knowledge, as part of an engineering staff. They will be responsible for working with COMSEC equipment and adhering to the processes and procedures associated with COMSEC. Typical responsibilities include

  • Properly account for, store, issue, inventory, destroy (if necessary), and safeguard all COMSEC material provided to them.
  • Create and retain the required accounting documentation
  • Ensure users have the proper clearance and are authorized to access COMSEC material
  • Issue COMSEC material on local custody forms
  • Provide written guidance concerning handling, accountability, and disposition of COMSEC material
  • Conduct training to ensure that all personnel handling COMSEC material adhere to COMSEC procedures
  • Incorporate emergency action and/or emergency destruction procedures for COMSEC material
  • Expert on handling Data transfer devices for keying of all Cryptographic equipment
  • Must have 3 to 10 years of experience
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Department of Defense security clearance.
  • Due to the sensitivity of customer‑related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • The salary range for this role is $80,000-$100,000 (The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.)
