Job summary

NORTHWEST IOWA POWER COOPERATIVE in Le Mars, IA, is seeking an Engineering Technician to provide technical and administrative support to the Engineering & Operations Department. The role encompasses CAD drafting, data management, meter data handling, and compliance reporting to support reliable electric service.

The candidate will assist with AutoCAD drawings, GIS tasks, and project documentation, while helping with billing, data forecasting, and safety programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree or related experience preferred.
• Associate degree in civil, mechanical, electrical, or related technology field or 5+ years in engineering aide, drafting, or related electric utility experience.
• Proficiency with basic engineering concepts and utility operations; ability to learn CAD, GIS, and utility software.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain AutoCAD drawings and engineering records.
• Assist with GIS, document management, and electronic file archiving.
• Support project inspections, data collection, and engineering studies.
• Assist with surveying, staking, and drone-related activities.
• Provide administrative support for compliance, billing, and data management.
