Job summary

L3Harris Technologies is seeking an Engineering Technician C for the 2nd shift at the Rochester, NY site. You will support assembly, maintain process documentation, and collaborate with engineers to enhance manufacturing processes.

This role requires hands-on work on the factory floor and strong problem-solving abilities. Key qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent with several years of related experience, plus lean manufacturing exposure and solid MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 6 years prior experience, 2 year post-secondary/AA Degree and 2 years prior experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; MS Office proficiency.
• Exposure to Lean Manufacturing principles (5S, error proofing, standard work, quick changeover).

Responsibilities

• Support assembly of all new and existing products in the factory.
• Create and maintain process documentation and work instructions.
• Perform preventative maintenance on selected assembly equipment.
• Procure tooling and equipment/parts for production processes.
• Work with engineers to develop and implement manufacturing plans and projects.
• Coordinate with various disciplines and shifts to identify and implement process improvements.
• Learn how to use new equipment to assist in setup and operation.
• Traverse the production floor for the duration of their shift (up to 12 hours).

Job Schedule: 4/10: Employees work 10 hour days, 4 days a week

This person will contribute to the company’s success by supporting all aspects of the Jefferson Road Operations Center manufacturing processes. This role will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production equipment while balancing support tasks and improvement initiatives. It will be essential for this role to work well with cross functional teams to understand and prioritize shop floor issues and communicate with other shifts to relay issues faced and resolved.

Essential Functions:

• Support assembly of all new and existing products in the factory.

• Create and maintain process documentation and work instructions.

• Perform preventative maintenance on selected assembly equipment.

• Procure tooling and equipment/parts for production processes.

• Work with engineers to develop and implement manufacturing engineering plans and projects.

• Coordinate with various disciplines and shifts to identify and implement process improvements.

  Preferred Additional Skills

• Highly motivated self-starter who’s able to operate with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

• Understanding of manufacturing systems, production processes, technical standards, and assembly equipment.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills including experience with MS Office products like Word and Excel.

• Exposure to Lean Manufacturing principles like 5S, error proofing, standard work, and quick changeover.

• Able to maintain productivity while tasks change quickly and being flexible throughout the day.

  In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $26.20 - $48.80. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
